WHAT: Maggie Hood, Director of the SSA, an organization she formed three years ago after her daughter was seriously injured in a surfing accident in Ventura, will be the guest speaker at both Leo Carillo beach and Oxnard Shores as the lifeguard instructors hand out the brochure her organization created to the kids learning about ocean safety. She was invited to speak this year following a positive response to her brief presentation at last years program.

She is committed to educating as many children and new surfers of all ages as to the potential dangers as well as the rewards of staying safe while enjoying California’s most popular sport.

* Following the Leo Carillo presentation, she will be speaking in Oxnard Shores, Ventura County, to the participants in the Port Hueneme program.
